Objectives:
- Students will be able to find and classify critical points and decide if they are local or global maxima.
Important Notes:
Lesson Notes
- [ (5 minutes)] Welcome the class to recitation. Ask students if they have filled in the notes section of the packet. Tell students that they should be filling in the notes section before coming to recitation.
- [ (20 minutes)] Have students work through problems 1-2. These problems are mostly just computation.
- [ (10 minutes)] Have students solve number 3 the purpose of this problem is to show students that all the information they are using can be very useful for drawing more accurate graphs.
- [ (10 minutes)] Have students solve number 4. Again, the purpose of this problem is to show students that all the information they are using can be very useful for drawing more accurate graphs.
- [ (15 minutes)] Have students finish the worksheet.
- [ (15 minutes)] Assign different people the task of presenting their answers to each problem to the entire recitation.
